  • Students will be assigned to the appropriate level proficiency exam after a brief assessment by Professor Ahmed. All Arabic language proficiency exams are conducted via Canvas, and students will be sent a link to take the exam online by Professor Ahmed.

  • Students who have completed a placement or proficiency assessment in Arabic and are looking to get their results should contact the faculty member that helped them with their test.

  • Arabic placement tests may be taken up to two times, although it should only be needed once. Student may repeat the test after 6 months if needed.

  • Yes, students will be able to see their test scores immediately after completing the test and they will be informed of their placement or proficiency after the exam is over. When exams are completed, they are graded, a report form is generated and then sent to the Graduation and Academic Records Office. Test results will be valid for one year.

  • No, students will not get academic credit for their placement or proficiency exams. However, by passing proficiency exams students can meet world language requirements for graduation and requirements for majors and minors in the Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures.
